HDX-MS is a novel mass spectrometry technique to study the advanced structure of proteins and has a wide range of applications in the study of proteome structure and dynamic changes in protein epitopes and active site identification. Scientists often use combinatorial analysis to accomplish a high-resolution analysis of details of interactions to reduce risks and facilitate early drug development by assessing target engagement and kinetics.

Combined with the latest MS techniques and data analysis software, HDX-MS technology can be used to map the interaction of binding sites. This technology has the advantages of low requirements for protein purity, no crystallization and only a small number of samples. In addition, this method can provide a physiological conformation that better reflects the true state of the protein. HDX-MS is used in a wide range of biopharmaceutical applications, from drug discovery to functional validation, including the study of protein conformation, modification-induced dynamics, folding, protein degradation and protein/protein interactions.
