Background

The special properties of nanoparticles allow them to have many special effects in practical applications, such as large specific surface area, high surface reactivity with many active centers, strong adsorption capacity, high catalytic capacity, low toxicity and low susceptibility to degradation by various enzymes in vivo and intracellularly. These properties make bionanomaterials widely used in biotechnology and biomedicine as therapeutics (e.g. monoclonal antibodies) or in combination with nanoscale drug delivery vehicles.

Nanoscale properties are closely related to their size, shape and composition. Accurate structural characterization of biological nanomaterials helps us to understand their diverse structures and to evaluate their specific properties and excellent physicochemical properties. Therefore, the establishment of reliable methods for the accurate characterization of nanomaterials is necessary for the application of functional nanomaterials in biomedical applications such as tumor therapy, medical imaging, and the preparation of antimicrobial agents.
