Plant Cell Wall Research

Plant Cell Wall Research

The plant cell wall is mainly composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, proteins and lignin, and its unique mechanical properties provide additional force protection for plant cells, enabling plants to withstand various stresses in different environments. In addition, it is also an important component to ensure benign growth and development of plants, providing growth, development and communication functions for plant cells. Therefore, analyzing the cell wall structure using biophysical analysis techniques can help to study plant physiology in depth.

CD BioSciences, as an expert in biophysics, has a professional technical team and rich experience in plant cell walls and is committed to exploring the mechanisms and structural properties of plant growth and development.

Component Analysis

Plant cell walls are composed of complex polysaccharide polymers that are involved in maintaining cell morphology and enhancing cell mechanical strength. Raman spectroscopy can provide in situ information on the chemistry of plant cell wall regions and the structural properties of major components, including the distribution of cellulose microregions in the plant cell wall, the enzymatic fermentation of natural cellulose, the spatial orientation of molecular chains, molecular morphology, crystallinity, and polycrystalline transitions, etc. This technique is now a powerful tool for the study of issues related to the microregion chemistry of plant cell walls. At present, this technique has become a powerful tool to study the problems related to plant cell wall microregion chemistry and is widely used in plant cell wall research.

Structural Observation

Raman spectroscopic imaging and infrared spectroscopy combined with microscopy have become important tools for structural studies of plant cell walls because they provide information about the structure and composition of molecules in their natural state. Raman imaging can study the distribution and content of lignin and cellulose in plant cell walls, providing new methods for in situ analysis of the chemical structure and ultrastructure of cell walls in the efficient conversion or utilization of agroforestry biomass.

Mechanical Research

The plant cell wall, as the protective layer of plant cells, has important mechanical properties. Its unique lattice structure and structure composed of a variety of substances, extremely strong elasticity and toughness, and overall stability after local deformation allow it to provide effective protection and support in variable environments, providing a solid foundation for excellent plant growth and development. The longitudinal elastic modulus and hardness property indexes of plant fiber cells can be obtained by nanoindentation technique, and the effects of cell wall lignin content and distribution as well as cell wall ultrastructure on the mechanical properties of cell walls can be further analyzed.
