In Vivo Imaging Services for Biomedical Research

CD BioSciences is committed to developing a variety of technologies such as bioluminescence and fluorescence to provide in vivo imaging services to our clients. Our specialist scientific services can provide clients with important information on many aspects of biomedical research such as target engagement, therapeutic response and mechanism of action.

Background

In vivo imaging is a technique that applies imaging methods to the qualitative and quantitative study of biological processes at the tissue, cellular and molecular levels in the living state without damaging the animal. This technique allows non-invasive and visual observation of biological processes such as tumor growth, metastasis, disease progression and changes in gene expression in living animals.

Unlike traditional methods, in vivo imaging allows the same subject to be observed at different points in time, tracking the same observation targets (marker cells and genes), with more realistic and reliable data, at lower cost and with greater sensitivity. In vivo imaging has a vital role to play in biomedical research. The use of this technology has helped to reduce the number of animals used in pre-clinical drug development. More importantly. The significant insights into disease processes that it provides at the organ, tissue, cellular and molecular levels help to develop new therapeutic strategies and to assess the effectiveness and safety of new treatments.

Our Strategies

We offer our clients a wide range of in vivo imaging techniques to perform measurements from the cellular level to the organ level and the animal level. The services we offer include but are not limited to:

  • Volumetric measurement of soft tissues.
  • Measurement of bone mineral density.
  • Non-invasive, quantitative measurement of the distribution of targets (e.g. receptors, enzymes, ion channels) in tissues.
  • Measurement of target binding site density (location and number).
  • Assessment of target engagement.
  • Measurement of biomarker candidates for preclinical and clinical applicability.
  • Reported gene imaging.
  • Assessment of potential safety-relevant therapeutic effects in drug development.

Our Technologies

  • Computed tomography (CT)
  • Single-photon emission CT
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Positron emission tomography (PET)
  • Bioluminescence imaging (BLI)
  • Fluorescence imaging
  • Optical coherence tomography (OCT)

Feedback on Results for Clients

  • High-resolution post-imaging images
  • Detailed experimental protocols
  • Analysis reports of experimental data
