Introduction

Dynamic light scattering (DLS) technique is capable of measuring particle size with the advantages of accuracy, speed, and reproducibility. Working Principle

The principle of operation of DLS is primarily based on measuring the speed of Brownian motion of particles in solution to derive the particle size. When particles move in solution, they are subject to irregular collisions with surrounding molecules, and such collisions result in constant changes in the velocity of particle motion. The particle size can be deduced by measuring the rise and fall of the velocity of particle motion.
